Tamika's Bio page 4 - Looking Forward
Although the portrayal of the "controversial" meetings created an impression that was 180 degrees
from the truth, there was nothing Tyler could do about it. The show is ostensibly judged by viewers
who call in votes during a three hour window immediately after each episode. Tyler had no time to do
any damage control
before the votes were cast that night and she got the boot the following week.
Tyler admits, "I was probably a little naive about the whole 'reality TV' business, but if I had it to do
again I wouldn't do anything differently...except maybe leave the room when they ask loaded questions.
In the end it was a real learning experience and great exposure. I got a lot of support from fans and from
the celebrity judges. I also made lots of friends among the cast and production crew. I'll treasure those
memories forever."
Back On Track and Looking Ahead
From Australia to America...from mommy to musician (again)...from unknown artist to TV sensation...
it's been a heady five years for Tamika Tyler. What's next for the one-time ten-year-old-busker from the
Coffs Harbour weekend market?
"I hope there will eventually be a record deal for me here in the States," Tyler says. "A couple of labels
in Nashville have already expressed interest in signing me, so Butch and I will be pursuing those leads. I'll
definitely be playing more shows than I have been in the past few years. My music is so much a part of me that
I have to keep after it. I don't know exactly where I'm headed yet, but I'm looking forward to the ride."
